Reilly's First Soccer Game!!!

It has begun!!! Reilly is now officially following in his Daddy's very athletic footsteps! Joey, who played soccer from childhood through college, is so proud of his soccer-loving little boy!! Reilly's team is the Snakes, whose colors are yellow & black. (Yes, my entire family wore our yellow shirts for the game!) It was so much fun watching Reilly play! Since they only had 3 players show up for the game, they played the entire game with no subs! He was very tired, but didn't quit! He was so excited whenever his team scored, and helped his teammate get up and dusted him off after he fell down. So sweet. But don't confuse him for a softy....he did get in the other team's faces when they had the ball. Intimidation is his middle name! He is a fearsome competitor, and has the battle scars to prove it! I can't wait to see how
they improve as the season progresses!

Defender of My Honor

Well, you wouldn't know it just by looking- but my son is a force to be reckoned with. A thunderbolt of toughness- if you will. The other night while Joey and I were having our playful banter/verbal sparring (which we so thoroughly enjoy), Reilly happened to hear Joey say something to the effect of "Mommy is so silly!" Upon hearing this, a change came over the sweet face of the boy I adore. He assumed what I can only imagine is his "kung fu ready position". He turned to his Daddy, and with all seriousness, gritted his teeth and stated "Don't call my Mommy silly- I will ROUGH-HOUSE you!" After the shock wore off, knowing that fisticuffs may ensue- I tried to explain that Daddy & I were just teasing each other. But Reilly would allow none of this. It was so sweet, and terrifying, all at the same time. If I could only capture a picture of that moment... my HERO! :)

Why didn't anyone tell me that these Bumbo things were so awesome? Not only for babies, but for 4 1/2 year olds as well! ;)

A little embarassed to admit it, but we just recently finished Avery's Nursery. Yes- she is 3 1/2 months old. Oh well. Here it is... and we love it!! :)

14 Pounds of Precious and 50 Pounds of Fun

Well... the scales have spoken, and I am in absolute shock that my sweet little boy (who incidentally weighed 6 pounds when he was born) now weighs 50 POUNDS!!!! Wow. I never gave him permission to grow this fast. I'm so not happy with this example he is setting for his little sister, who is already 14 pounds!!! STOP GROWING!!! Okay... at least slow down please!

Avery is 3 Months Old!!

Weighing in at 14 pounds 3 ounces, and 24 inches long, our sweet baby girl is 3 months old today! In some ways, it seems like she was born just a minute ago- but it also feels like much longer. Odd how that happens.

I was so excited for "Honey" to take some pictures of our new family of 4 !!! We went to the FTW Botanical Gardens on Friday, when it was 80 degrees!!! Reilly did really well... for a 4 year old boy. (Trying to keep him from climbing, jumping, and exploring in his nice clothes was at times a challenge!) Thanks very much Honey... you did a great job!

The Sweetest Big Brother

Reluctantly, I took Avery to get her first round of immunizations today. I knew this experience would be rough- since I sobbed like a fool when Reilly got his first shots. I was holding Avery in my lap (with tissue in hand) as the kind nurse administered the first shot. As my poor defenseless baby girl began to emit the most painful cry, I kept my head down because I didn't want Reilly to see me upset and get scared himself. I only looked up when I heard another nurse say "Awww..." I glanced over at Reilly only to see him crying the saddest, sweetest tears for his baby sister. My heart just broke. He just had to come closer to look at her, to make sure she was really alright after it was all over.
I have been shocked over these past 2 months as I've watched Avery become such a huge part of Reilly's life. He is so protective, gentle, and affectionate, and he includes her in all his plans. He always just factors her in, no matter what he's doing. It absolutley THRILLS my heart to see how much he cares for her, and how he wants the best for her.... Just what I've always wanted.
